Born in Calgary, Alberta in 1975, Corri-Lynn Tetz lists fake wood paneling, harsh lighting and the occasional heavy metal ballad among her influences. Her paintings explore what she refers to as “this overtly middle class vantage” by drawing on unlikely icons and images of banal theatricality in order to communicate the absurdity she finds. While referencing the historical dialogue between abstraction and realism, she incorporates these unlikely icons into both a personal and cultural visual history.
