Born in 1981, Canadian painter Shauna Born creates small, static portraits of strangers and intimates. Her paintings address both a current and deeply rooted historical desire to document faces in portraiture. After completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Ontario College of Art & Design in 2004, Born decided to pursue a Master’s degree at the University of Waterloo. She has shown her work in solo exhibitions in Toronto, as well as internationally in group exhibitions and art fairs. Born has received several awards and grants during her artistic career, and her paintings are found in public and private collections. She currently lives and works in Toronto.
