Born in Ottawa in 1973, Christian Audet obtained a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from the University of Ottawa in 1997. He has since lived in Montreal and his first exhibition in the metropolis was held at Espace 303 in 1999. In 2002, he left Québec to live in Vienna, for a period of two years during which he pursued an exploration of the limits of pictorial representation. Upon his return to Montreal, he participated in the exhibition "Fait à Montréal/Made in Montreal", of curated by the painter Marc Séguin. His latest series concentrates on portraiture and its social function. He is interested in representations of corporate leaders and particularly in the phenomenon of "white collar bandits" which has been widely talked about in the last few years - even though it has always existed.
